Is Haputale right for you?
Haputale is built along a ridge, and on a clear morning the land falls away to the south far enough that you can see a long way towards the coast. That view is the whole reason to stay here.
It is quieter and plainer than Ella, an hour or so away. Hotels are small. People come for Lipton’s Seat at dawn, the tea estates around Dambatenne, and the train.
Good for
Early risers, walkers, the train, and a view most visitors never see.
Not ideal for
Resort facilities, nightlife, or a lie-in. The view is a dawn thing.
Worth knowing
Cloud usually closes in by mid-morning. Anything you want to see, see it early.
