Is Sigiriya right for you?
This is the middle of the Cultural Triangle: flat, green, and dotted with ancient sites. Most people come for Sigiriya rock, and stay for the cave temple at Dambulla and a jeep safari to see elephants gather by the reservoirs.
There is no real town life here, and that is the appeal. Days start early to beat the heat, and evenings are for the hotel pool. Two nights lets you climb the rock one morning and do a safari the next afternoon without rushing.

History, early risers, wildlife, and a quiet couple of nights.
Not ideal for
Nightlife, shopping, or anyone who hates early starts.
Worth knowing
Climb the rock at opening. By late morning it is hot and busy.
